AfTA    The Association for Technical Analysis

Brief Description:  Provides members and the DFW trading/investing community with current information and education on technical analysis. Nationally known, knowledgeable speakers provide interesting and informed presentations on their specific areas of expertise.  Subjects covered may include stocks, e-mini’s, options, forex, commodities, mutual funds. 

Meets:      3rd  Tuesday of each month from Sept to May

Time:       7:00 pm  - 9:00pm      registration at 6:30 pm

Cost:       $25/meeting as a guest,  $100/year for membership gets you all nine meetings

AfTA  Active Trader Special Interest Group (SIG)

Brief Description: Meets the Saturday after the monthly AfTA meeting to discuss active trading of stocks, index futures, options, etc.  Most discussions are pertinent to shorter time frames, from day trading to swing trading.  

Meets:   The Saturday following the 3rd Tuesday of each month from Sept to May

Dallas Investor’s Forum (DIF)

Brief Description:  Dallas Investors Forum together equity investors and their ideas that are tradable Monday morning. It is an open forum that encourages discussion and interaction with all guests for their investment of choice. This "idea farm" strongly stresses discussions on subjects of stocks, options, and mutual funds. Presentations are made by professional guests such as Alon Energy, Devon Energy, Vice Fund, VanEck Natural Resources Fund, and Strategic Investing (Fred Richards who uses concepts as found in Investors Business Daily) plus many others. Equally important are the ideas that you as a participant may discuss at each meeting for the benefit of the entire group.

Mechanical Trading Systems

Brief Description:   The mission of the Mechanical Trading Systems group is to develop low cost trading systems and portfolios producing exceptional returns with low draw down. Portfolios and systems are rule based, quantified through backtesting, and include money management and position sizing. Multiple strategies, financial instruments and trading platforms may be utilized.

Meets:    2nd Saturday of each month

DFW Options Group

Brief Description:  “Traders helping traders become better traders”

Trading strategies based upon options is the primary thrust.  This group focuses on all facets that make for successful trading – group interaction, money management, technical analysis, trading psychology, etc.

Dallas Managed Risk Investors Group

(formerly FastTrack Users Group)

Brief Description:  Our goal is to make money on investments while managing risk.  We do not tolerate large drawdowns.  We talk about ETFs, Mutual Funds, Junk Bonds, Sector Rotation, and internet investing data sources. Mostly experienced investors but ALL are welcome.

Meets:    2nd/4th Tuesdays of each month 

Time:      6:30pm – 9:00pm

Place:    Texins Activity Center on TI complex at Central and LBJ in Dallas 

Cost:      Small fee to cover expenses may be collected.

Fourth Saturday Investors Group

Brief Description:   Discusses ETFs, Mutual Funds, Gas/Oil related investments, REITs and stocks.  Meetings with “Speakers and Discussion”, or “just group discussion. Bring an idea

Meets:    4th Saturday of each month

Market Technicians Association -- DFW Chapter

Brief Description:   Market Technicians Association -- DFW Chapter Brief Description: The Market Technicians Association is a not-for-profit professional regulatory organization servicing over 4,500 market analysis professionals in over 85 countries around the globe. The MTA’s main objectives involve the education of the public, the investment community and its membership in the theory, practice and application of technical analysis.

The Dallas chapter of the Market Technicians Association is chaired by the team of Jeff Beamer, Matt Trump, CMT, and Vince Regan, CMT.

Meets: Monthly, last Thursday of the month, most months

Time: 6:00 pm

Place: Five Star Conference Center 222 Las Colinas Boulevard West Irving, TX 75039 The Urban Towers in Las Colinas has parking available in the front of the building facing Highway 114.

Cost: None... both members and non-members are invited to attend all chapter meetings at no cost.

Investor’s Business Daily Meetups

Brief Description:   Investors of all skill levels meet to discuss using Investor’s Business Daily tools and www.investors.com  for stock selection.  Includes discussion of market direction, timely topics and specific stocks to consider. 

Two master groups meeting monthly, one in Dallas and one in Ft. Worth

Meets:     Monthly, see schedule, usually on fourth Wed.

Time:       ~ 6:30pm to 9:00 pm… time may vary

Brief Description:  Meets to discuss topics of interest to stock, bond, mutual fund, and ETF investors.  Topics discussed include stock selection, asset allocation, investment strategies, portfolio management, the economic outlook and the effects of that on the markets, and tax issues related to investing.  Speakers may be nationally recognized or local.

Brief Description:  Come learn from others about how to make money in the market using VectorVest!  No RSVP required.

AAII  Subgroups

Dallas Mutual Fund Subgroup

Meets on the first Wednesday of each month except July and August, 6:30 p.m., Preston-Royal Library, Royal Lane just west of the North Dallas Tollway. This group meets in an informal roundtable setting to share members? knowledge and experiences with mutual fund investing. This is a very informative session whether you are a beginning or experienced investor.

Tarrant Mutual Fund Subgroup

Meets on the first Tuesday of each month, 5:45 p.m., The Golden Corral, 7660 Grapevine Highway, North Richland Hills.

Plano Mutual Fund Subgroup

Meets on the second Thursday of each month, 6:30 p.m., Plano Senior Center, 401 W. 16th St., Plano, TX. 16th Street is an east-west street that connects the southbound access road of the North Central Expressway and Alma Drive, between 15th Street and Park Boulevard. This group meets in an informal roundtable setting to share members? knowledge and experiences with mutual fund investing. This is a very informative session, whether you are a beginning or experienced investor.
